Sunday Morning

I am not a morning person.

My dog doesn't care.

These are the two things that were confirmed for me at 6:15 a.m. this morning.

A young couple moved in next door to me.  I know this because they have a German Shepherd and Tucker makes sure that I know about his comings and goings every time he leaves the house.

Every time.  Even if it's at 6:15 on a Sunday morning when "Mom" is trying to sleep in.  He doesn't understand the big deal.  Just go back to sleep later, like he does:

Sorry, buddy, but I can't fall asleep at will like you can.  By 8:30, I had a pot of coffee in me and two loads of laundry done.  Maybe I should thank him for making me productive and freeing but the rest of my day so we can go to the park earlier and I can get started on binding my quilt?

Ask me how I feel about this around 4 p.m. when I run out steam.

I managed to lug that entire quilt through my sewing machine yesterday and it is all quilted and ready to bind:

The quilt pattern is Wicker by Cluck Cluck Sew.  I have to admit that the photo on the pattern didn't really do much for me but when she posted about it on her blog with additional photos, I loved the look of it.  I culled my stash and came up with a pile of fabrics that said "summer" and "vintage" to me.  Then I picked a Fig Tree green tonal for the stripes, a nice bright white background and off I went.  It went together really quickly with strip piecing and a lot of chain sewing.

For the quilting, I did wavy lines that run in the same direction as the stripes.  Since the pattern is called Wicker, I thought it would look good to "weave" my quilting.  It's a queen size so once it's bound and washed and on the bed, expect pictures of the resident male model showing it off.

You know, the same guy who works morning security detail.
